Ruck Gear Reviews
I know this pack was probably meant for marines jumping out of airplanes and surviving behind enemy lines for days or weeks at a time. But I am using it for backpacking as a civilian. With its multiple external pockets, I don't have to dig through or take stuff out of my pack every time I want access to something. I have recently been using an Arc'teryx Bora 65 which is a comfortable pack. Now my girlfriend is using that one and I use this one! The day I got it in the mail I took it out for the weekend in rough terrain. I packed tons of unnecessary items and tons of water so I'd have a huge, heavy load to haul for testing purposes. This pack did not let me down. The frame included with it is FAR superior to that found on conventional ALICE rucks! Padding on the shoulder straps and hip belt are sufficient, even for my bony build. I really love the attention to detail on the stitching, and the internal water bladder sleeves are perfect for holding my ginormous Nalgene bottles (I hate water bladders when they bust or leak so I don't use Camelbaks ever). I've got a dedicated external pouch for raincoat/poncho, one for the water filter, one for cooking stuff, and importantly, a big one for great access to the first aid kit! One more important point I appreciate about the quality: There is no creaking or noise as you walk! I LOVE THIS PACK!
